While the dust is still clearing from yesterday's All Things D (as in Digital, Damned, Drowsy, completely Delightful and even Dildonic at times), the best news for me have been Jobs' announcement that Apple is planning to open the Mac OS X Messiah-phone to developers. To achieve their need to balance security and openness, my guess is that they will follow more or less the iPod model: controlled distribution of Apple-certified, high-quality apps through a secure channel like the iTunes Music Store.
The question is: what current third-party Mac OS X applications would you like to see adapted to the iPhone? Which of them would actually reach a greater potential in the iPhone and become killer applications?
My wishlist and your own suggestions, after the jump.
Here are my Top 5 picks for the iPhone, according to coolness factor and personal preference.

We at Gizmodo are officially departing for our Mother's Day festivities. There could always be posts later this evening, but they won't be by the standard weekend crew. My mom is currently driving down from Chicago for a little late golf, dinner, and of course, gifts to make up for my not driving to her this Mother's Day...or her birthday...or...
So she will be getting a black Nintendo DS, Brain Age and Puzzle Quest. And considering her own obsession with all things shiny (except her Treo 750 that sits unused for reasons beyond me), I think she'll enjoy playing her beloved puzzle games with dual screen and stylus interface.

Tokyo's subways and billboards sport advertisements for chocolate and flowers to hook Mother's Day gift buyers. But one of the most visible ads suggests you give your mom Nintendo DS and load it with an interactive cookbook or games.

It's Ask Engadget time once again: you provide the questions (send 'em in to ask at engadget dawt com), you provide the answers (in the comments), and we provide the drinks! Well, actually, not really -- we're just here to watch. Yesterday we were looking at camcorders with Clancy, and now we've got Lisa looking for a gadget friendly purse to carry her gadget stash with style:

"I've been trying to find a good solution to carry all of my gadgets around, keep them safe, and keep them organized for years. I'm not talking about a laptop case here -- I'm looking for a purse. I'm looking for a bag that looks at least halfway decent and can handle my iPod, PDA, Nintendo DS, cell phone, eReader, and digital camera (and anything else that I "need" to have with me at any given time), and ideally give me relatively quick access to all of them. Oh, and I'd really like to not have to pay much more than $100 for it. Am I asking for too much? Y...

Our buddy Ramon (who if you remember, created the ultimate Legend of Zelda Wii mod) has done it again. This time he's taken an otherwise plain-Jane Nintendo DS Lite and turned it into a Legend of Zelda masterpiece that Miyamoto would be proud to use himself on the train to work every morning—that is, if he didn't have a couple of slaves picking him up in a gold-covered chariot instead.
As with the Wii Mod, some of the proceeds of this DS Mod auction are going towards Child's Play, Penny Arcade's charity for sick kids.
