Nintendo is giving you another way to play with their pencil-shaped stylus. For stylus aficionados, the design will feel familiar to HORI's DS Stationery Set released previously. This new stylus, however, comes straight from Nintendo at a slightly lower price.
Only available in Japan (or through an importer), the official NDS Pencil Stylus is basically your regular DS/DS Lite stylus, but thicker. The stylus lacks lead and therefore has no need for an eraser. If you think holding a pencil will improve your game (but won't help on your homework), you can grab one for a costly $10 import, around $5 less than what you might pay for the added frills of the HORI package. – Kevin Hall

Set to be revealed at SEK in Korea, the iRiver M10 and D5 both have a glossy black look found in other players like the iRiver Clix 2 (but not in the MPlayer). The M10 will be a navigation-centric device, with a gigantic knob on the right and a DMB tuner, which probably means it's going to stay put in Korean waters for now.
The iRiver D5, on the other hand, is a Nintendo DS-Lite-like flip device that works as an electronic dictionary as well as a music player. Somehow we don't see electronic dictionaries taking off as music players over here in the US like they did in Korea, so we'll have to chalk both these up to Korean envy. – Jason Chen

This sunny-side-up DS Lite is the limited edition result of a love-in with PIkachu and Nintendo. However, the bad news is that there's no guarantee you'll get your paws on one, as this yella fella with Pikachu etched on the cover is so limited that it's only available via a lottery system (and $139). If you live in Japan, get yourself down to the Pokemon Center and on the list from July 20 onwards. – Ad Dugdale

No sooner than we find out that Japan will be getting a sure-to-be-coveted Pikachu DS Lite, we now know that American DS owners can finally enjoy the luxury of browsing the internet on their handheld with the US version of the Nintendo DS Browser. The cartridge sports an Opera-based browser that takes advantage of the DS's dual-screen approach, and there looks to be different versions depending on whether you're buying for the DS Lite or original DS. Of course, we aren't thrilled by the notion of coughing up $29.99 for this convenience, but at least we Americans now have the option, eh?

You been hurtin' for a DS browser for soooo long. Well guess what? It's finally here. That's not to say it's going to change your life or anything. Super-early reviews were not so psyched. Still, a browser for the DS is a no-brainer, so it's nice to finally see it available, even if it will cost you $30. What? Yep, follow the jump to see the press release for yourself. – Wilson Rothman
Nintendo DS Browser available to North American market Oslo, Norway - June 8, 2007 - Opera Software today announced that the Nintendo DST Browser, powered by Opera, is now available to the North American market. Packaged just as a game cartridge, the DS browser is sold at an estimated retail price of $29.99. There are two variants of the DS browser cartridge for either the Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite systems. Both variants are available on Nintendo.com, with the browser for Nintendo DS Lite also available at locations where video games are sold.

Plundr is the first Nintendo DS game that uses your location to affect how the game plays. Figuring out where you are using Wi-Fi positioning, the game gives you different "islands" to go to based on your location, and "depending on where you are in the physical world, you'll find different islands, different market prices and different ships to fight."
It looks pretty neat and fun to me. It looks pretty simple as well, and it seems like the perfect candidate for a port to a GPS phone like the Helio Ocean. Imagine, legions of DS- and Ocean-wielding Plundr-ers running around cities, trying to find different islands. And people say you can't get fresh air while playing video games. –Adam Frucci

I've got a reader request for you all. Travis reviewed a DS-Xtreme Nintendo DS cart last year, which is great for the DS part of the DS Lite. However, I'm looking for an equivalent device for the GBA slot. Anyone know of one that's relatively cheap and works well? If you could let me know in the comments (or email me), that'd be fantastic.
Speaking of Travis, did you know yesterday was his last day? We'll all miss him, so I'm taking this space to wish him good luck, and of course, a hearty GFY.
Still don't know how to comment? Here's how:
1) Click on the "Register" link on the top right of the page. Fill out the form by choosing a username, password and email for your eventual comment account.
2) Choose a post, click on it, and scroll to the bottom.
3) Fill in the comment.
4) Refresh the page to see if your comment shows up. If it hasn't within a day or two, try again with a better comment. – Jason Chen

If anyone's capable of making a gaming phone (worth buying), I'd put my money on Sony Ericsson. Their recent patent shows the blueprints for what looks like a PSP phone. What sets this phone apart from other attempts is that it packs game-friendly buttons (no more having to use your phone's tiny number pad) and a rotating screen (so games can be played in landscape mode as opposed to vertically). Make it compatible with all of today's PSP games and Sony Ericsson might give the Nintendo DS some competition. What do you guys think? – Louis Ramirez
